Excited to announce that BEETHOVEN project co-organized a symposium titled “Advances on Permanent Magnets for Sustainable Solutions: Towards the European Green Deal”, which took place during FisMat 2025 in Venice, Italy, from July 7–11, 2025.
This high-level scientific event brought together leading experts and EU-funded projects in the field of advanced magnetic materials, aiming to accelerate innovation in sustainable magnet technologies in line with the goals of the European Green Deal.
The symposium was jointly organized by our own Cecilia Granados-Miralles (Instituto de Cerámica y Vidrio (ICV), CSIC – Spain), César de Julián (Institute of Materials for Electronics and Magnetism (IMEM), CNR – Italy) representative of BEETHOVEN and GREENE, Andrea Bachmaier, project leader of ERC PoC Grant REFMAG and Spyros Diplas, coordinator of MagNEO.
Several key BEETHOVEN partners delivered invited talks showcasing the latest research and breakthroughs:
- Petra Jenus Belec (Jozef Stefan Institute, JSI): “Novel sintering approaches for the fabrication of permanent magnets”
- Silvia Gallego (CSIC-ICMM): “Predictive ab initio simulation of complex ferrite magnets: the relevance of the exchange correlation functional”
- Ken Khor (GreenSpur Wind, GS): “A High-Performance Electric Generator Solution for Emerging Type Permanent Magnets”
The symposium served as a vibrant platform for fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among several EU projects closely aligned with BEETHOVEN, including GREENE, REFMAG, MagNEO, RemHub, HyPerMag and GENIUS.
