GERMANY
General Numerics Research Lab (GNRL) excels in various domains of physics and technology, providing comprehensive solutions from scientific consulting to the development of software packages for high-tech engineering applications. GNRL specialize in conducting full-scale theoretical research in the area of condensed matter physics and collaborate closely with industrial partners, optimizing future technologies through advanced numerical simulations. In the BEETHOVEN project, GNRL contribute to WP1, WP2, and WP4 by developing mesoscopic micromagnetic paradigms for simulating polycrystalline structures, creating meso/macroscopic approaches for modeling the response of permanent magnets, and optimizing tools for simulating the mechanical properties of magnetic materials, considering their specific features
INSTITUT JOZEF STEFAN (JSI)
SLOVENIA
The basic research in the Department for Nanostructured Materials at Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI) focuses on inorganic materials with specific physical properties that are a consequence of their structural and chemical phenomena at the nanostructured and atomic levels.
The fields of research involve natural and manufactured ceramic materials as well as metals and intermetallic compounds.
The basis of the research is to find relationships between the physical properties of a material and its structural and chemical properties by using electron microscopy techniques to reveal phenomena on the nanoscale. Macroscopic phenomena, for example, phase transformations, phase equilibria, polytypisim, polymorphism, crystal growth, and microstructure development, are areas of particular interest.
In the context of BEETHOVEN project, JSI will be leading the activities of WP 5: Sustainability assessment and also participating in the following: (a) Synthesis and optimisation of high entropy alloy compositions (b) Synthesis and optimisation of W-type hexaferrites (c) (Advanced) sintering of BEETHOVEN magnets (d) Phase, microstructure and magnetic characterization of BEETHOVEN powders and magnets (e)Assessment of recyclability of new magnets (f) Labelling of magnets for recycling
